About Maple Syrup

The Maple Syrup Story

Pure maple syrup is an agricultural product produced only in the spring from the sweet sap of the sugar maple tree. Maple forests are only found in the northeast quarter of the North American continent. The trees thrive only in a specific region from New England to Minnesota and the Canadian provinces that border on those states. As a result, other regions know very little about the difference between pure maple syrup and imitation maple syrup that is found side by side in grocery stores.

How is Maple Syrup Graded

Our award winning syrup is available in the four grades specified by the International Maple Syrup Institute so you can choose exactly what you’re looking for. We offer:

  • Wisconsin Grade “A” Golden – Delicate Taste
  • Wisconsin Grade “A” Amber – Rich Taste
  • Wisconsin Grade “A” Dark – Robust Taste
  • Wisconsin Grade “A” Very Dark – Strong Taste

Color and flavor is an important factor in grading and classifying maple syrup. The lightest grade is called Golden, with Delicate Taste. This maple syrup is very pale in color with a mild maple flavor. Amber, with Rich Taste is a little darker in color than the Golden, but still has a mild maple flavor. The third grade is Dark, with Robust Taste, which is a little darker yet and has a stronger maple flavor. The last grade with the strongest maple flavor and darkest color is called Very Dark, with Strong Taste.
